The Last Corner

The data collection and analysis are completed now and it is time to start organising all the information I have. The next step will be the drafting the whole structure of the paper and have some progress.
And spending the last part of the time line for corrections, proof reading and so on. Now  it is ready to write down all the things shaping the research.

Some parts (case studies, comments, conclusion, referencing) were not included since these are the fundamentals of the paper, no need to indicate the exact time frame.

Drafting and Interviews

I had contact with interviewees and I am waiting for a response. However, that does not mean sitting on chair all day for an answer. I started to work on my first draft. Before that I was looking for more deep research about the history of video games. I have plenty documents but I still feel it is not enough.
I am writing a rough draft to make the process smooth so I will have chance to refine and make necessary changes. I am expecting to finish up to section where interview responses take part for the middle of the first week of July.

Interviews Part 1

I have several option as a interviewee candidates. I have contacted with them and luckily some returned back. I will start preparing questions and hopefully we have nice interview. Also I am planning to keep in touch with people around Manchester.

One Example

Actually this video is the starting point for me. When I was watching this, the idea for the paper came to my mind and I decided it as a research topic.


It is just a one point of the main idea, yet it has an important role of cinematographic styles in video games.

Headlines from meeting

It was very positive meeting. Pronouncing my thoughts and plans helped me to clarify and/or organise all things, so I can see future right now. And there are some headlines from the meeting, probably will contribute the paper massively.

  • turning examples into case studies
  • getting reflection from user groups
  • getting in touch with media-magazines, blogs, developers
  • having nice interviews

and at some point it will help to my works somehow, but also other people in the industry as well.

Now it is last hours of completing the proposal, and it looks pretty over. Hopefully, I can proceed with updates and positive changes through the paper.

Introduction

This is the first post of the thesis blog. There are planing, time scheme and all other details about the project.
The thesis will be focus on video games and their narrative features. Early examples of the games promised very different aspects than what the games do nowadays.

There are three main points that establishes the thesis.

  • Art and game relationship
  • Cinematography as an artistic method
  • Narration style of video games

I have questions to create a proper paper covering the points that have been mentioned above. These will also help me to come to a reasonable conclusion.
